Reflexive pronouns

RULES:

We use reflexive pronouns to show that we are talking about the same person or thing. They are used:

  • after certain verbs (kill, cut, behave, burn, enjoy, hurt, look at, teach, etc…) when the subject and the object of the verb are the same person.

I’ve cut myself with the knife.

  • with the preposition “by” to show that someone does something by himself without help.

Roy can fix his toy by himself.
